The Office

Finally I have the feeling we are really getting somewhere with the Buchter. We found a new printer in Windhoek - who prints the national newspaper “The Namibian” - and I am very busy changing the whole look of the Buchter.

I honestly believe that finally we are making a newspaper which makes me feel proud (although it still needs to be printed, and that can still horribly fail!).

Next Tuesday I’m going up to Windhoek to meet the printers and watch as the Buchter gets printed, so I’m sure everything will go as I want it to. I’ll also try to meet up with our host to discuss some urgent business and with a man called Phul van Schalkwijk who is the owner - as far as I understand - of One Africa Television.

Together with him we want to produce a DVD on Lüderitz to put Lüderitz on the map as a tourist attraction. It’s are job to interest the local businesses to get the funds needed to produce this DVD.

I have also spotted a new potential project. There is a water pipe leaking in Lüderitz and fixing it seems to be to expensive, so they rather let the water go to waste. This water is leaking into sperrgebiedt, forbidden area, so we can’t do anything with the water. On the other side of the pipe though, there is a piece of land which the local community would like to use for farming. So now I’m going to try to fundrais a waterpump so we can pump the water to the other side of the pipe and use it to make a piece of farm-able land.

That’s pretty much it for now,

Cheers,

Hidde

Kus!
