Ever since the Buchter News was founded in 1987 it has basically had the same setup. It looked more like a newsletter than it looked like a newspaper. We are about to change this. And it will happen this month!
What is changing? Well for starters we have found a new printer. A professional printer - well we hope so - who prints both the Namibian and the Informantee (two of the biggest newspapers in Namibia). The main differences between are old printer and new printer are that from now on the Buchter News will be print on newspaper paper and it will be printed full colour!
To really make use of these new printers we made a software swap as well. Publisher moves aside and in comes Adobe InDesign. After playing around with it for a bit I am absolutely sure we are going to amaze the people of Lüderitz!
Of course an exterior change calls for a content change as well. Although not as radical as the changed appearance, we are trying to put the voice of Lüderitz in there. On many topics: local, national & even international. We are also going to promote tourism in the Karas area.
And than the final change, the Buchter News will get it’s own website! A place where people can read & discuss the local Lüderitz news! It’s not online yet, but if you wish to receive an e-mail when it is, please fill in the form on: http://www.buchternews.com.
As for now I am going to end this update with another picture of Brandy and I’ll try to make a picture update on the creche on Friday.
Cheers Hidde
