So I arrived, I’m i Windhoek now in the backpackers hostel. It’s a really nice place, very peaceful nice people and lovely food. That goes for the backpackers and for Windhoek aswell. Ofcourse there are a few things I need to get used to. First is the air, it’s so dry & dusty it feels like sticking your head into an air conditioner permanently! Second is Afrikaans, I understand it now but talking is quite hard.
And then of course the idea of being away so far. I miss everyone already, but I’m glad that the place is so nice that I enjoy being here aswell. It’s amazing how developed it is here: everyone has cellphones, there are good Internet connections and plans and best of all: it’s all amazingly cheap! Where I’m internetting now it costs me 15 dollars per half hour, which is the equivalent of not even E 1,50.
And last but not least: THE TRAFFIC in Windhoek. It’s not designed for walking, since the traffic lights only work properly for cars. So it envolves quite a lot of running, which is fun as well. You’ve got to be carefull though!
Tonight I made a mistake though by sleeping without a jumper on. The night temperature last night was -1 C, AMAZINGLY COLD! I nearly turned into an ice-cube in my bed. During the daytime it’s about 26 to 28 C - it’s winter and will get hotter, much hotter - but due to the dry air it’s quite comfortable. No sweating at all.
I’ll write some more tomorrow and upload some pictures once i get to Luderitz - I’m leaving there on Tuesday, unfortunately by car not by the expected plane.

Hoe gaat het? leuk bericht! ik blijf hem checken! We hebben net hier een bbq gehad met wat ik noem de beverly girls. Allemaal vrouwen die echt echt echt LA zijn haha! Toen ze hoorde dat ik wou shoppen sprongen 2 vrouwen een gat in de lucht en begonnen bijna handje te klappen. De ander legde uit dat ze een personal shopper had en dus niet zelf shopte en dus niet kon helpen haha Verder gingen de verhalen over de depressieve schildpad van Linda die dankzij Maria nu een vriendje heeft en verliefd is geworden (maria had een turtle in de straat gevonden en aan linda gegeven). Das het niveau dus! Super LA maar wel echt heel erg lachen!! Morgen ga ik op zoek naar furniture..we houden contact en als ik fotos van mn app. heb zet ik ze online! jij ook doen!! dikkkkke kus! An
